I don't vote because..... Empty I don't vote because.....

Post by ophion1031 September 15th 2016, 2:41 am

1. It's pointless. George Carlin is spot-on!!

2. There is nobody worth voting for. I have liked (somewhat) and agreed on certain things with a few candidates over the years, but I have never liked one enough to vote for them. If I'm going to vote for a person to hold a position of that much power, I have to be able to get behind them 100%. And that will never happen.

3. I fucking HATE the way the candidates badmouth, attack and insult their competition. That shows you what kind of person they are right off the bat. Hillary and Trump are a perfect example. They have really been putting each other down. It's funny, but I'm not going to vote for a person like that. When I was a teenager and started watching debates, this is one of the first things I noticed, and it seems to be happening more often nowadays. I really hate the commercials saying "don't vote for so and so because blah blah blah. I'm Spifford Q. Fahrquar and I approve this message." Oh, you approve this message that is publicly trashing on another human being? That's nice. And they spend all kinds of money to make these commercials. More than I make in a year, easily. I'm poor and living pay check to pay check wondering how I'm going to get to work and around town because my car broke down and I can't afford to get it fixed for another week, and you're spending all kinds of money on this garbage?

4. Presidential candidates come from rich and powerful families more often than not. I would rather see a candidate that comes from a tough neighborhood, who had to fight to get to where he/she is. A candidate who comes from a working class family. A candidate who knows what it is like to have struggles in life. I want a good honest person with good morals who has the people's best interest in mind. Not some rich fuck who cares about power and keeping their rich friends happy. All men are created equal? HAHAHA what a joke. I know we will probably never have a candidate like this and that makes me really sad.

5. Why can't these people make good on their word? They will smooth talk you to get you on the hook, and then once your vote is cast they throw your ass back in the water and might even throw a few rocks at you from time to time. They promise to do this and that and to make all of these improvements, but it never happens. Is there a single country in the world who is in more debt that us? Fix that shit. Legalize marijuana in all 50 states and tax it. Boom, you just cut into the deficit big time. If you say you are going to provide health care to the poor, fucking do it. You're going to improve education for our kids, the future of our country? Then why are IQ's dropping at an alarming rate? Maybe you should ban social media.

6. War, it's fantastic. Are we heading toward WWIII? It sure seems like it. Do politicians care? No! War is a huge money making industry. Part of the reason JFK was killed by his own government was because he wanted to bring our troops home. Politicians support war, and for that they are scum!!

7. Stop forcing religion on people. I don't want to hear the leader of our country go on TV and give a speech and, at some point, say "god bless America." First of all, there probably is no god. Secondly, not everyone wants to hear that crap. Religious beliefs should be kept to yourself. If I were president would I be allowed to say "Hail Satan" during a speech? No! I'm not a Satanist or anything, was just using that as an example.

8. People expect everyone to vote. Fuck that. Some people vote for someone just so a candidate they hate will not win. HAHA, wow. Good thinking! "I'll vote for Trump, even though he is a racist pile of dog shit, just so that Hillary doesn't win. I like hate Hillary and stuff." Supporting the lesser of two evils is still supporting evil, folks!! That is no reason to vote. Find a candidate you like and believe in or don't vote at all. I MIGHT actually go cast a write-in vote for "None of the Above" and you might want to consider doing this as well.

I had more reasons, but I can't remember them all. Going on very little sleep right now. Have fun reading this and reply with anything you want. If you agree, cool. If you disagree, don't be afraid to post your opinion. There will be no conflict here. I repsect anyone who thinks for themselves and forms their own opinions, so have at it!

Robert Rorschach said "If one votes, one participates. If one participates, one condones and endorses the process, and subsequently, what those elected ‘representatives’ do and say in your name." YES!!! I couldn't agree more.

Hi, Ophion. Very interesting commentary with a lot of good points to it.   I'm a hard-core voter and disagree with your main thesis here though. I like your idea about writing in "None of the above." Or maybe write in someone you like, even if they aren't trying to get elected to anything. I've written myself in a couple of times for stuff. I hope you'll get some needed rest and post the more reasons soon. If I can sober up and get off my lazy ass, maybe I'll post some of my reasons why I want every eligible voter to, you know, vote.
And I hope some other people on here will post what they think.
Y'all have a good one!

I have nothing against people who vote as long as it's for the right reasons. A lot of people tend to go with the crowd rather than being fully behind the person they are voting for. I was thinking of running for president, but I would be assassinated for sure.

I respect Trump in several areas of life but I think he would be bad as president.
