I remember the Ryan/Ventura fight. Everyone said Nolan kicked his ass, but he really didn't. He landed a few shots to the top of the head and then 1 solid punch to the face before Ventura took him down. It was pretty funny either way. I have been a White Sox fan for over 20 years, so I may have been watching this on live TV but can't remember.

Dude. Thanks for putting that up. 80s baseball waz AWESOME!
I think the umpire suffering from Barn-Ass Syndrome waz named John Hirschbeck.
I've waited on Ozzie Smith and Willie McGee before. Super-nice guys. Ozzie's in the hall and Willie should be.
I met Vince Coleman one time. I've read that managers didnt like him much because of a bad attitude, but he was not at all unpleasant to me. He's a now-mostly-forgotten major talent.
The Mets easily finished in 1st place in 1986, beat Houston in 6 hard-fought games and then squeaked by Boston in a World Series that went the distance. 1986 waz a year when  the Cardinals were between pennants.
Back then there were two separate major leagues, each with two divisions. No matter how good a team waz, they had to finish the season in first place or they watched the playoffs on TV.

O well. I'm enjoying the LA-Chi tilt a lot. The Dodgers shut out the C*nts again tonight, this time by 6 runs instead of Sunday's dramatic 1.
Anyway, Ophion, thanks again for posting that.

Hell yeah!! I was a Cardinals fan in the 80's when I was really young, but then switched to the White Sox when I was about 12 or 13. My brother and I used to memorize baseball cards back then. We could tell you stats and personal details on any baseball player haha.

Looks like The Dodgers are probably gonna take down the Cubs and play the Indians in the world Series.

I hope you are right. I hate the Northsiders. LA's got some 8 year-old kid starting tomorrow against John Lackey so I don"t know.
You should rejoin Cardinal nation, it's not too late! I have to warn ya, their style of play now is WAY different than it waz in the 80's.

I have been a Sox fan since about 1990. I was also an Iowa Hawkeyes fan but switched to Iowa State around 1990 also. That's the last time I have switched a favorite team. I still like the Cards, but like the Sox more. Been a Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks fan since around 1985 when I really got into sports.
