http://www.christlutheranelcerrito.org/newsletters/01-27-13newsletter.pdf

I found a Larry Blain Mower in his early 70's, a little older than Dennis, who has lived in all the same cities as Dennis. They are related but I'm not sure how. I think Larry may have been Dennis' cousin... here is his obit:
http://www.edwardsmemorial.com/fh/obituaries/obituary.cfm?o_id=3748967&fh_id=10429

EDIT: If anyone can find more info on the machine gun that Mower was busted with, please let me know. The gun was shipped from a gun shop in Wisconsin to Santa Ana, CA in May 1965. Fun fact: The gun that killed Richard Thoresen was purchased (by Louise Thoresen) at a shop in Wisconsin just 4 months later.

Important to note that Mower lived in Los Angeles County during the Zodiac murders and I cannot find any records of him living in the bay area at all, although the Minutemen gave seminars all over the state and I have read things that place Mower up north in cities including Berkeley, Oakland and Fresno. He did live close to Riverside when Cheri Jo Bates was murdered so there is that possibility. Plus, there was a letter from someone in the Minutemen mailed to Jack Ruby that looks identical to the Bates letters. The Minutemen were having a meeting or lecture or some sort of event in Los Angeles the day that Cheri Jo was murdered. I cannot seem to find out where Mower went to High School, but am very interested to find that information.

This signature was from the early 70's. I have seen several things that he signed through the 70's and 80's, and his 80's signatures are all very sloppy while the 70's ones seem to be pretty neat. Here is what his 80's signatures looked like...

Turns out he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in January 1982.

March 16, 1965 FBI interviews Dennis Mower...

http://www.buildingdemocracy.us/archive/dox/lazar/fbi/504-EXTREME%20RIGHT/Southern%20California%20Freedom%20Councils-HQ-1.pdf

Some good info. Worth reading!

It mentions Mower was the president of the Southern California Freedom Councils, and that Joseph Raymond Carey was the vice president. If my memory is working right, I believe that Carey disappeared in the early 60's and that Keith Gilbert claims he was murdered by Mower. I will have to check into that a little more, but I do know that Carey and Mower were roommates when Carey disappeared. He was a fugitive (for bail jumping after an arrest for burglary on June 6, 1964) at the time of his disappearance as well, so it's possible that he just went into hiding. Mower may also be responsible for the disappearance of Lynn Bernadette Luray, who disappeared from Long Beach, CA August 17, 1964 at the age of 15. Luray and Carey may have been dating and Mower may have killed them both.

Also interesting to note is that Mower's brother-in-law had given the FBI information on Mower.

Mower's father was an interesting guy...

Benjamin Allen "Jack" Mower
Born Sep. 5, 1890 Honolulu, Hawaii
Died Jan. 6, 1965 Hollywood, CA

Jack Mower was a contract actor out of Warner Brothers Studios from 1910 to 1955. You can find a listing of his credits on www.imdb.com.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0610268/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1

All Jack Mower's film archives are being held at the University of Southern California, Warner Bros. Archives. , to contact them call 213-748-7747, they can pull paperwork. Most of the documents they have are contracts he signed from the films he was in. Laura Womack, his Great Great Granddaughter, has an 8"x10" Publicity Photo and scrap book of movies he was in. Laura also has records from Warner Bros. Studios which show parts played, addresses he was living at at the time the movie was made, amount he was paid and when he was let go. Laura also has a picture of Jack Mower from the film "Manslaughter" he is in a photo advertising the movie. Another newspaper article states why Anne Mower divorced him, dated Sept. 24 1922.

Note: Jack Mower was married five times and at time of death single.

Jack appeared in 524 films and several TV series.

August 27, 1976 S.F. Chronicle featured a personal ad that said:

"ZODIAC your partner is in DEEP REAL ESTATE. You're next. The Imperial Wizard can save you. Surrender to him or I'll terminate your case. R.A."

I think "your partner" has to be referring to Fred Manalli since he died a day or two before this ad was placed, but that is a discussion for another thread.

There are a couple of things to note about Dennis Patrick Mower that could relate to the ad as well. Mower was a personal friend of KKK Imperial Wizard Sam Bowers, and he was working as a paralegal at a law firm in L.A. at the time the ad was placed. "Terminate your case" sounds like something a lawyer would say, although Dennis was not a lawyer. He wanted to become a lawyer, and even enrolled in law school, but he knew he would never be able to practice law with a felony charge on his record, so he dropped out of law school. The initials "R.A." are a mystery, though. I have no idea how that would link to Dennis.

Did Mower write and send this "letter" to Jack Ruby while he was locked up for murdering Lee Harvey Oswald?

It was postmarked Dec. 2, 1963 Los Angeles, CA. Mower did indeed live in L.A. at the time. I have posted this in other threads because of the similarity to the Bates letters, and someone mentioned on another site that this letter to Ruby was from someone in the Minutemen, although it was never stated who exactly it was from or how it was known that it was in fact from someone in the Minutemen.

This was sent to Ruby, postmarked Dec. 2, 1963 Los Angeles as well.

Notice the three-stroke "k" and the lower case "r" that looks like a "v" or a checkmark? Also the lower case "g" that has the line going straight down to look similar to the number 9. Those are all very Zodiac-like, but there are some differences as well.

Could these letters be from Zodiac? Sure, why not? Now to try to find out who they were from!

EDIT: We can discuss these letters and a possible Mower and/or Minutemen connection in this thread, but for general discussion pertaining to the comparison of these letters to the Bates letters, or even the Zodiac letters, that can be discussed in the following thread: http://zodiackiller.forumotion.com/t171-she-had-to-die-letters

Mower in 1962. Grants H.S. in Van Nuys, CA:

Definitely looks like the son of an actor. Actually, he looks like Sean Astin.

Classmates.com won't let me zoom in on that photo, so that is the best I could do for now. I think my work computer is the problem. I will try to get a larger version later.

Re: Pastor Dennis P. Mower

Post by ophion1031 on December 4th 2016, 1:01 am

I just found some FBI files which gave me the following information.....

-Mower was an FBI informant as far back as 1962 or 1963. But he wouldn't always give them good information. Actually, a lot of the time he would provide them with names of suspected communists in California.
-Mower was a suspected child molester.
-Mower took a physical in late 1963 in order to join the military, but I don't think he ever served.
-The reports talk about Mower often travelling to San Francisco for activities dealing with the Minutemen and the (SCFC (Southern California Freedom Council - Mower was the founder and president... Interesting that the vice president was Joseph Raymond Carey). Mower denied being involved with the Minutemen, but the FBI knew he was lying and knew he was Troy Houghton's right-hand man.
-A friend of Mower's, Newton Armstrong Jr., was found hung with his hands tied behind his back in 1962 and Mower told the FBI he thought it was some sort of communist conspiracy, although police had determined it was suicide. How do you hang yourself when your hands are tied behind your back??? Edgar Eugene Bradley is believed to have been the first on the scene the following morning once word got out of Armstrong's murder. Edgar Eugene Bradley will ring a bell to anyone who is into JFK assassination conspiracies. Mower testified at Clay Shaw's trial and stated that in 1960 (although Mower was still in high school at the time) Edgar Eugene Bradley offered Mower $100,000 to assassinate JFK. Loran Hall of the Minutemen testified at Shaw's trial stating that Edgar Eugene Bradley was involved in the assassination.

DPM HARBORING FUGATIVES, CAREY & LURAY

Post by Keith Gilbert on January 18th 2017, 11:52 am

At the time Dennis Patric Mower and his mother were harboring the Fugative Joseph Carey and runaway minor, Lynn B. Luray they were living at:  13136 Vanowen St., Apt. A, N. Hollywood, CA in 1965.

This is also the address where I saw Lynn B Luray in the garage 'hiding' behind a car…this was before I became a fugitive by a couple of weeks…I didn't see Carey there but a lot of his property was in the garage and DPM was trying to sell some of it to me, i.e. BAR parts, etc,

Hi, Keith! Good to hear from ya. I'm pretty sure there is an FBI wanted poster somewhere on the site for Carey and I think it mentions a teen girl runaway (Luray) being with him.

Gunmen on the run

Yep, that is 'Little Joe' as he was sometimes called.  The machine gun was an M2 carbine in .30 caliber…nice little gun, I've carried one for many miles…the M2-A2 model with the folding stock is best…the other armed person mentioned in the flyer would be me…but at the time he was living with DPM with Lynn B. Luray. Carey belonged to Dr. Wesley Swift's 'Church of Jesus Christ; Christian' and attended 'all' of his services…he met Lynn B. Luray at one such service in Lancaster, CA. Carey was also a 'card counter' and managed to get himself banned from several casinos in Las Vegas, NE, and on occasion he would be literally 'rolling' in money.

DPM had a motto: "The Wages Of Sin Is Death!" from the bible somewhere.

I've got one of those out there with my picture on it somewhere…even scared me. ;-)

I have a later picture of DPM if someone wants to give me a Fax number, I'll be glad to share it.

Wish I had a fax... I would love to see a later photo of DPM.

Maybe I am mistaken, but wasn't Mower or Carey involved with some guy who was growing marijuana on a tiny island just off the California shore? I remember reading a story that was something like that, but I forget that details or who was involved. I wanna say that the guy growing the marijuana had a pending murder charge, but I'm not sure if that is correct.

I was growing Marijuana In Hawaii in 1973 with a man named Wesley (Buck) Walker…he and his girlfriend were later busted because of a couple of murders on Palmira Island, a US territory, but only Buck was convicted. Buck was with me one of the founding members of the now notorious Aryan Brotherhood. When he killed the two people he was careful not to let Stephanie Sterns see or know the details…Stephanie was his girl friend and with him a fugitive…but they had to return to Oahu on the victims stolen boat because they were being eaten alive in the tropics by and STD with no way to treat it…nasty stuff indeed. A book about the events was later written titled "And The Sea Will Tell" but it is full of a one-sided account by Stephanie's defense attorney, Buglioshi, Buck also wrote a self published book which was once available on Amazon but is now out of print…he died in 2010 in Willits, CA, after being released from the USP Victorville in 2009…never admitted guilt to the killings…but I know/knew Buck…a true Psychopath…and he definitely did it.

I'll figure this Fax thing out…some day…just keeping this old MAC up lately has been my main chore though.

Neither Carey or DPM had the knowledge or skills to grow Marijuana…and yes, Palmira Island is off the coast of CA…a long way off…about 6c miles South of the big Island of Hawaii. KDG, Esq.

A point about Troy Houghton, his car was found shot up and he disappeared before Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was executed…but there is no reason to believe that Houghton died at the same time the car was shot up, indeed it is likely he had a hand in that bit of subterfuge…DPM would have had no problem finding an old mine or well in Missouri to drop him into after the fact; DPM was not big on leaving witnesses laying around…no body, no details.
