The Grateful Dead zodiac tie in ?
Could there be a connection to the band The Greatful Dead to the zodiac killer story?
I find they played concerts or such on all the confirmed killing days plus CJB murder date
Found that they played a halloween themed dance on 10/30/66 in San Jose called the Dance of the Dead. ( it's not listed as a concert because likely played 30-45 min and for a dance crowd )
On Sept. 27 69 they played a concert with Country Joe and the fish band
and on 12/20 /68 played with the the same band , country Joe and the fish . they are famous for the song "What are we fightin for" anti war song
they played in Chicago on july 4 & 5 1969 and the summer of Love concert 10/11 or 12 /69 just down the road when Paul Stine was being murdered.
saw they played again on 3/22/70 with joe & the fish the date of kathleen J encounter
Jerry Garcia in the recent book chronicling the Greatful Dead once dedicated a concert to the Zodiac Killer back then , was there a contact to the band we do not know of ? It is not like the Greatful Dead were going to call the cops to report that or anything really
Maybe z had a country Joe &the fish obcession
I see they also played a concert in Paradise Valley British Columbia park
did zodiac use the word sgueamish in a letter ? thought I remembered he did

Thanks, that is what I thought too. He did look a little like Stine sketch in 1969 though but still not Zodiac.

There has to be some info out there somewhere about Garcia's obsession with Zodiac. It could just be that he was a weirdo who was a "fan" of a serial killer. Or... he had some knowledge of what was going on with the whole thing.
Re: The Grateful Dead zodiac tie in ?

Re: The Grateful Dead zodiac tie in ?
Thanks, Don. The logo is Star Wars. The rest I guess is just an outer space theme. Still got some bugs to work out.
Thanks for the link. Always fun to learn about older bands that were around before I was born. Pretty interesting stuff.

Get This I was looking for the date that The Grateful Dead played that Paradice Valley BC park it was Aug. 8 /69 . near Sqaumish BC
but having to look thru all the dates back then I saw they played San Francisco State College on Oct. 1,2 /66 actually fri thru sun.
that was where Cheri went to see her boyfriend @ that college weeks before her death ( was she there then?)
also they played Golden Gate Park Oct. 15 /66 with Country Joe & fish

The book tells where they lived back then ,so it must have been common knowledge for residents too ...Z could have mailed a letter or delivered it himself to the home addressed to Garcia ... maybe saying he was at their concerts
I say Z was tied to practicing witchcraft / satanism of sorts ,TGD's 1st big album was titled Witchcraft

I do believe that you are right and Zodiac was into Satanism. I ran into a person by the name of Kathleen Johns who said that the man I have the picture of went to her church. I asked about her church and it was the Church of Satan in SF. I couldn't get away fast enough LOL.

Re: The Grateful Dead zodiac tie in ?
according to the article they TGD had 2 homes in the haight district but got tired of the tourists and moved to another home in SF in a industrial area with only a few homes around them then later to a 34 acre ranch

Re: The Grateful Dead zodiac tie in ?
Garcia would be upset if he knew that Zodiac was a fan of the Rolling Stone's! That is if the Zodiac is for sure my suspect with all the hair. He was all dressed up in a powder blue suit having a "cherry" filled donut and a "maple" filled bar at my favorite donut shop. He told my friend that he was on his way to Oakland to see the Rolling Stones.

I'd bet he was a Dead fan as well. It seemed like a good amount of Stones fans were into the Dead as well.
Re: The Grateful Dead zodiac tie in ?
The Dead were kind of the opening act for many a great band Hindricks ,Doors ,Jefferson airplane ,the Who ,birds etc. The prefered to play in the afternoon which the other bands wanted to be closer to the end of the show .
I see they played the berryessa bowl in 66 to 68 by one article but others ommit that fact.
Z may have worked security for them and could have seen a hot Cheri that weekend she was visiting her boyfriend and asked to see her ID so he could stalk her
