Hi and help needed on who to contact re: cipher solution

DYK I talked to a Detective that has one of the victims to investigate . When I talked to him asking if he received my letter ,he said -"people do not believe the mail we get every day on Zodiac , a hundred letters or more ,once in a while it dies down to 12-20 and we think it is dying out then it comes right back"

The situation is totally understandable. At this point all I can maintain is that I am 100% confident in my solution for the map code, fairly confident in the "my name is" code and I'm within spitting distance of completing the 340 code.

I will try over the next few days to take the correct route to reveal the information. If that fails, I will publish online and I'd be very surprised if it didn't then go viral through the Zodiac community. That will then ensure the right people get to the information, (if a little late).

Welcome, Calstock. One thing you could consider is to build a blog/website to show what you have found and how you found it. Randall Clemons went with this approach with his work...

I am always hesitant advising people to talk to law enforcement because I know so many people who have done so and most of them regret it and say it was a waste of time. Honestly, what I would do is send a private message to a user on here with the name of sandy betts. She is very friendly and I would go with whatever she recommends because she has been involved in the case for such a long time and I'd bet she would know who the best person to contact would be.

I'm anxious to see your work, but without revealing too much maybe you could just answer one question for now... and if not, I totally understand... does your work include a person's name and/or identity?

Well I suggest, with no disrespect intended, that unless your willing to publish your decoded effort along with the ciphers key or explanation how and why its a plausible decryption, then its advisable to just say nothing at all until you are willing and/or ready to do so.

 Again, I know that sounds dismissively harsh but I really don't mean it in that tone nor context. I say it in most polite way because, for example, if I came claiming to have a substantial and crucial breakthrough in regards to this case but every time I was asked to show My breakthrough and the evidence for it, I simply replied: "Well, due to the unmmm, the Circumstances at present that I cannot elaborate on, I am, unfortunately, not at liberty to show anyone."

  Do you know what  I would have done.if I said that? Quickly  Discredit Myself before others did it on my behalf. 

 If you have an extraordinary claim, then if you go public with it, you better have extraordinary evidence to show otherwise certain members all over the Z Community/Thread boards will go to town on you.

Good point, Alex. This definitely has captured out interest, but I think we all would like to see your work now. I'm not saying you should post it, that is up to you, but you have our attention. Maybe posting here or on another site is the way to go just to get some feedback before contacting law enforcement agencies?

welcome. I think any direction you go would be good but I would give the info to LE regardless because if your work is right and then the case gets solved I could see them being pissed that they weren't informed

Thanks guys for all your advice. I will be in touch again soon to let you know how I'm going to present the evidence, (by a Youtube video or forum post). I've never done a Youtube video so that will be steep learning curve if I go that route !

What I will just say once more is that I appreciate the advice you've given and I hope when you see the completed 340, Map and "My Name Is" cipher solutions presented, (in the next few days I hope), you will remember this conversation we've had as my first and only successful contact to the Zodiac community, (I applied to another forum and FB page but no one got back to me).

If the POI is still alive ,seeing you solution ,he may destroy evidence that is needed to take him to court.

BTW, if you do plan on posting a name, we do have the 'secret suspect' section if the person is still living or you don't want to post a name for any other reason.

Thanks Ophion, I have gone through the decrypted code and for a long time got the usual Zodiac taunting messages and rants like he did in the 408. But last night I read the final solve of the puzzle, (it's in many layers), and I have conclusively and specifically identified EXACTLY WHO THE ZODIAC IS.

This guy is NOT any of the prime suspects, but you my friend are one of the few people I've found through an internet trawl who's actually found the guy. It was in a discussion post you had with another member but please don't try to second guess it and post it here because somehow or another I need to get this to someone of authority first before it goes public. PM me if you like and I'll reveal, but only if you are prepared to treat this in the strictest confidence.

If any one is friends with or has any way of putting me in touch with perhaps that code-breaking expert, (dan Olson was it?), or anyone else that carries weight, then a 5 minute phone call with me will unravel the whole 340 for them in a stunning fashion.

I think the 408 was meant to be solved but the 340 he (or they, maybe) made it really really hard to figure out but if ever solved would be consider to be one of the most brilliant things the world has ever seen. Ok, maybe I went to far, but you get my point...

I moved your thread into the appropriate section of the forum and I posted some thoughts on your work, which is amazing!

I wish I knew how to go about contacting someone, but that is a bit much for me. I can see if I can find someone who can help though. I will be sending you a PM in a minute and you absolutely have my word that I will not mention the name to anyone.

Thanks Sandy. You tell me who to contact and I will divulge everything to them. One thing I am not is one of those guys trying to now withhold the truth to make money out of it. I'd like to identify more with the teacher who solved the 408 - Just a regular guy who just happened to be good at solving puzzles. From a dead start, I've cracked the 340 and map codes, (and the "My Name IS" - although not 100% on that one). I know absolutely and specifically what all the information on the Halloween card refers to, (including the "Z - F" type logo). 

I know who the Zodiac is, what he thinks about is parents and more stuff than I can possibly list. The 340, even though it has less symbols has a wealth of information built into it that far outstrips the 408 and will keep people busy for years. Every time I look at another section / layer, I find more and more and more.....

I'm sure I'm a long way from knowing all there is to be found yet, but I have a ridiculous amount as we speak.

Why do I need to speak to someone ? Because if you read my Map Code solution you will see that took a while to type and compile, the 340 would take me a week ! AND ABOVE ALL ELSE ... Someone should tell the people affected by this in person, before it goes viral over the web.

By the way, I will say this has taken me a month from first getting involved with the Zodiac puzzle but it's only with the years and years of background research by the Zodiac community that the final solve could be reached.
