Possible meanings and/or origins for each cipher symbol
I'll get this rolling...

This symbol found three times in the "my name is cipher" most likely represents the letter "t." There are a few old alphabets that have this symbol, Aramaic being one of them, but every time I have seen this symbol it has represented the letter "t." A plain circle also stands for "t" in Aramaic.
I will try to compile a list of each symbol and it's meaning in every language/alphabet that I can find it in and then make a chart. Maybe someone has done this already? Some symbols show up in different alphabets, some have the same meaning and some do not. Some of these symbols might be more than one letter. For example, a circle with a dot inside of it often represents a "th" or "tha" in a few alphabets. The alphabet that has the most symbols from the ciphers is Greek. You can even slap a couple of the symbols (G and W) together to form the symbol Zodiac put on the Halloween card, minus the dots (which I believe are Masonic).

In the Inuktitut alphabet, the way they use arrows is interesting. I'm toying around with this on Dave Oranchak's webtoy at the moment just for the hell of it.

Here is a chart of each symbol from the 408. Some of these symbols are found in the 340 but may have a different meaning.....

Re: Possible meanings and/or origins for each cipher symbol
Just throwing out some shit here...........
G in Phoenician (West Asian)
http://www.ancientscripts.com/phoenician.html
combined with KA in rejang (Southeast Asian - Indonesia)... (*in Linear A, European, the crosshair symbol stands for KA... possibly something to that... the "plus sign" looking symbol in Brahmi also stands for KA. That is by far the most used symbol in the 340. Brahmi (South Asian) also has four dots that represent the letter "i")

Four dots = H in Tifinagh (African)

So the four dots, if they represent a letter could be for H or I.

Here is a chart I have started... I will post updated as I get more done...

Re: Possible meanings and/or origins for each cipher symbol
I couple of the symbols in the 408, if you use the Greek alphabet, you get the letter used in the cipher. For example... a circle with a line from top to bottom = phi, or the letter "p." Subtract two and make it into an "n." This symbol is "n" in the 408. The backwards K in Greek means kappa, also K, but is the letter "i" in the 408, which, of course, is two letters before K....
So I am messing around with this idea just for the hell of it.
EDIT: That got my nowhere hahaha.
