Peoples Temple in San Francisco
I typed in "List of San Francisco lawyers 1976" on google (regarding the S.F. Chronicle personal ad), and one of the top hits was a wiki page for "Peoples Temple in San Francisco." I was specifically looking for the initials R.A., but did not find anything. But now I am thinking that the R in R.A. could possibly stand for reverend. I could see a reverend being the "messanger" and placing this ad for the "Imperial Wizard". I have read about plenty of religious folk from different churches back then that were involved in some pretty heavy stuff... But this cult known as the "Peoples Temple" were big time scumbags and definite weirdos. They were very active in 1976, when Fred Manalli was killed. I have always wonder if Manalli's accident was indeed an accident or if there was foul play involved. I have seen absolutely nothing that indicates that Manalli was tied to this group, but I have plenty of time on my hands to look into it.
"Problematic for the Temple was that Jones' "healing" ceremonies in San Francisco also drew some religious conservatives who were less likely to join a socialist organization. Because of that and the Temple's constant fear of conspiracies attempting to destroy "the most promising hope for world socialism", new members were carefully screened." Terminate your case???

"The Temple also asked adults to sign papers admitting various crimes and wrongdoings, including conspiring against the U.S. government, involvement in terrorist acts and molesting their own children. If such members attempted to leave the Temple, Jones threatened to release the statements."
Bob Houston tried leaving the cult in 1976: "October 5, 1976, Bob Houston was found dead along the tracks at the Southern Pacific railroad yard."
"Jones expressed admiration for the SLA after it kidnapped Patricia Hearst and was involved in shootings, and the Temple distributed the Symbionese Declaration among its members."
Even if Manalli had nothing to do with this group, they are still worth researching.
If you're not familiar with the personal ad I am referring too, here it is...
Addressed to Zodiac. The ad was in the S.F. Chronicle right after Fred Manalli was killed in an auto accident.

Re: Peoples Temple in San Francisco
Found a 1978 newspaper article that talked about how crazy San Francisco was. And it really was. There were a ton of weirdos running around. I would have fit right in! Anyways, here is a small piece of the article that mentions both Jim Jones and his Peoples Temple as well as the Zodiac Killer.
Here is a link to check out the entire article if you have a newspapers.com account...

In other reading, it seems like Timothy Stoen was a bit of a scumbag. He was a leader in the Peoples Temple AND and San Fran. deputy district attorney at the same time. He tried to interfere with an investigation into the temple in 1976. Too bad his initials aren't RA.
