Kill count

Zodiac claimed to have murdered 37 people. Do you think he is telling the truth? How many people do you think he really killed?

I can't even take a guess. Could be 37. Could be 5. Could be anywhere in between. Could be more than 37. My personal opinion, which I have stated many times, is that there was more than one person involved in the crimes. That means that other crimes/murders (The Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murders for example) could have also been committed by the same person/people.

I doubt it that 37 was his accurate number. I have seen some potential murders that could been Z but I don't think that number can be so high.

Here are the claims of how many Zodiac had killed with each letter he sent

12-20-69 'Belli letter' he claims to have killed 8
4-20-70 'My name is....' he claims 10 kills
6-26-70 'button letter' he claims 12 kills
7-26-70 'little list letter' he claims 13 kills
10-27-70 'halloween card' the card says '4-TEEN' so that could mean he is claiming to have killed 14 now
3-13-71 'LA Times' letter he claims 17+ kills
1-29-74 'exorcist letter' he claims 37 kills. No letters in almost 3 years and then he sends one and the number jumps way up

I think that the "kill count" was important to Zodiac. Maybe numbers were important to him. We know why this would be the case if Ted Kaczynski were the Zodiac, seeing as he was a Math nerd. But the real question, to me anyways, is - why did Zodiac mention how many kills he had in his letters. Kill #13 would have taken place between June 26 and July 26 of 1969. And then on October 5th of 1970, we get the "13th Victim Postcard." Why? Why send this postcard a few months after kill #13? And then three weeks letter, Paul Avery receives the Halloween Card, which claims that there are now 14 victims.

I think there is something to all of this. The timing of the letters and everything. I do think there were a lot more murders than the ones that are "confirmed Z murders." Some were not announced in the letters, because they were not part of the "game." Is 37 accurate? Hell if I know.

There were dozens of unsolved homicides around the bay area at the time and some of them DID have Zodiac similarities. I'm not saying any of them were the work of Zodiac but we can't really prove that they weren't.
