"The Doodler"

Did anybody read the Gary Stewart book, where he claims his biological father was Z? I kind of enjoyed reading it but it left me FAR from convinced. Dude does seem to have mostly been a reprehensible douchebag and looks a lot like the famous PH composite, tho'.
Anyway, that book mentions a San Francisco SK from the mid-70's that I'd never heard of called "The Doodler." It's estimated that he had about 14 victims, three of whom survived. The Doodler's victims were all probable members of the LGBT community.
The survivors, at least two of whom apparently had high-profile &/or prestigious jobs, quietly coöperated with LE but refused to do so publicly or testify in court, because they were allegedly afraid of being "outed." The police supposedly know who The Doodler was/is and talked to him but couldn't prosecute him without the testimony of witnesses.
Does anybody know if anything has been done about this lately? Maybe the victims that wouldn't testify in the 70's are still alive and SFPD  knows who they are. I think it would be a good idea for SFPD to start after this again. Perhaps at least one of the survivors has been "out and proud" for years and might be willing to help out now. Even if not, maybe with DNA stuff they didn't have back then something could be done.
Even if LE is unwilling/unable to do any of this for whatever reason, they ought to at least tell the public if the suspect (without necessarily naming him) is in jail for something else or dead, which he probably is.

Metal Years, have you heard of "Stinky the Rapist?" That is another odd story out of the bay area from that time frame.

Sorry about thread. I didn't realize there was one or I wouldn't have started one. And I haven't heard of "Stinky" but I want to check it out, hell yea! Is there a thread on it here?
