Newspaper articles about the attack

This one states that Zodiac told Bryan and Cecilia that he was from Colorado and had escaped from Deer Lodge Prison in Montana. I'm 99% sure that he never said anything about Colorado and that he motioned escaping from a prison in Montana but never actually gave the name of the prison.

I get a kick out of youngsters like morf taking the newsprint from pre internet days as the truth . It usually was a bundle of fact and fiction. I knew this personally ,if someone did call the editor out on it  they only printed a retraction betwteen the snow tire ads. Reporters
Were hired to sell more papers, if they thru in one more tid bit it looked as if they were doing a better job reporting  ,also their interviewee could add false facts over the phone which is how most reporting was done

Reporting on all levels has been that way for a long time. It's worse nowadays. The gov't controls the media so I don't trust it one bit. But it depends on the topic also. I think some things they were honest about in their reporting and other things they couldn't be honest. Plus, like everything in this country, it all comes down to $$$. If the truth doesn't sale as well, they add in some things that are not true to make the story more interesting.

Stabbed her until she died????? She lived two more days and died at Queen of the Valley Hospital. The Napa Register had the story a bit better. If you read the descriptions of the costume, you will see why I didn't make any connection to the killers costume in my car. I thought it was an early Halloween costume not used in stabbing the couple.
As far as what they were doing there, it wasn't to have a pick- nick. There was evidence that they did make love. Pretty sure Zodiac watch them for a long while. Zodiac laughed in a frenzy while he stabbed Cecelia.

I will try to find the Napa article(s), not sure if I have seen them before, but my newspapers.com subscription expired. Sandy, do you think it was just one guy there or do you think there could have been more? The sketch looks a lot like Kane and that is why I think he (or someone who looked like him) was there, but did that person do the attack or was it someone else?

I believe the killer looked very much like Kane but a bit heavier. There could have been two, one being a look out and filming the crime. The other committing it. Ken Narlow thought the same as I do about that. The costume was to hide the face of the killer while being filmed and to scare the couple who knew nothing about Zodiac. That is why they didn't really panic when they saw the Zodiac's logo. My suspect looks like Kane.

The Press seemed to adopt a rather wonderful approach to reporting of events involving Police by letting cops know:

Some guy over at Morfs, commented "if what Sandy says is true", or something like that, as if I make this stuff up????? If I am not sure of something I say so, if I state it as fact then that is what was told to me and I state is as fact! He was referring to Ken Narlow saying he felt that Zodiac wore the costume to hide his face, because the crime was being filmed. I happen to agree with Narlow, nothing else makes any sense if he was going to kill them anyway, why hide behind a mask? Unless you didn't want any witnesses or to be seen? His witnesses he thought would die, so who else would have been able to see him, unless there was a camera? He had the costume off when the doctor and his son saw him walking in that area.They said they didn't see him carrying anything, but everything could have been hidden under his jacket.I am guessing he walked first to his car to get one of his felt tip pens to write on the car door.

Makes perfect sense. Every time I hear about the possibility of the attack being filmed, I think of Richard Marshall for some reason. have always thought that the entire "team Zodiac" was there at the lake that day, and this could be the reason why... to make a little homemade movie. Plus, with Mike Mageau not dying, that gave the killer even more reason to wear a mask, especially since it was not dark out during the LBS attack.

There are people who feel that there could only be one killer, because the bloody shirt was sent with a letter by the killer, so how could there be two? First of all, one could have killed Stine gave the piece of bloody shirt to the writer. And at Lake B,the one filming the crime and being a look out, could have been the one who wrote on the car door.I don't think that there were two at every crime , but who knows for sure that there wasn't? There were two witnesses at the Lake Herman shooting who said they saw a car with two men in it who seemed suspicious.Myself I have seen my poi with RH once following me, other times it was like they took turns.The guy at Lake B was bigger than the Stine shooter by several pounds. I read in the Napa paper that the caller was barley audible. That fits what Pam and I have heard when we received calls . He sometimes sounds like he has a mouth full of food. But I believe it has to do with the slight paralyses on one side of his face and mouth.
