Employment history
I know that so far nobody has been able to track down a list of any jobs that Ross had. On his death certificate it lists his last job as "dish washer." It would be nice to find employment history to find out the locations, but also to try to find any former co-workers and/or bosses he may have had.
I found an article where the wife of Tony Tola wrote to the Santa Cruz Sentinel in 1970 raving about how good her and Tony thought a restaurant Facelli's was. From the letter she wrote, it seems as though they ate out quite often. Just made me think... being in Santa Cruz themselves, did they have an unpleasant run-in with Ross a year or two prior at a place where he was a dish washer? If so, would Ross have been able to get the guys name somehow and work it into the cipher that says "TONY TOLA" with the cross-hair in between the first and last name? I know it's a dumb idea, but you never know?
Facelli's was located at 2830 West Cliff Dr. in Santa Cruz. In 1972 hey changed ownership and the place became Bibby's Inn. It burned down in Feb. 1976. The place was not all that close to where Ross lived, but it was pretty close (a little less than a mile) to where Ross was arrested in 1968 when he was nude and "in a dazed trance" and trapped a guy inside of a telephone booth.

Re: Employment history
On Ross' SSN application, his boss is listed as a Mr. Harold J. Prue.
Think this might be the right guy... http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=122016315
FCC Registered Amateur Radio Licenses in San Jacinto, California - Ham Radio
Can't find a damn thing on what this guy did for a living, but being a ham radio operator is interesting.

Re: Employment history
There was a Harold W. Prue in Troy, NY who was arrested in 1953 for robbing a bank. This Harold Prue was a former cab driver. The Troy PD Chief was named Edmund M. Sullivan.
I wonder if Ross put the name of Harold Prue on his SSN app as a joke. Ross lived in NY in 1953 when Prue was arrested so he may have knew who he was.
The most likely scenario is that Ross worked for the Harold J. Prue of Riverside and San Jacinto. I cannot find anything on what this Harold Prue did for a living. I wonder if he taught Ross how to use a ham radio.

Re: Employment history
In the "all known addresses of Ross" thread, you will see a discovery that was made today that gives us information that Ross was in food service at UCSC (University of California Santa Cruz) in 1968.
