Not too many upsets in week 1. About the only one was Northwestern over Stanford. BYU beating Nebraska on a hail mary was awesome!!! I HATE Nebraska! My Cyclones beat Northern Iowa 31-7. The defense had a huge game. Dale Pierson racked up 3.5 sacks and had an interception. The offense took a while to get going, but QB Sam Richardson had a nice game. They need to improve the running game, though. Allen Lazard had 4 catches for 43 yards and a TD as well as 100 yards on 4 punt returns. Trever Ryen had an 81 yard punt return for a TD. Next week is the Iowa Hawkeyes. GO CYCLONES!!!

Not many good games slated for this week. My Georgia Bulldogs play on the road against Vanderbilt. Vandy is coming off a loss to Western Kentucky (lol) last weekend. Georgia should easily trounce them.

Most of the ranked teams have easy games this week. Oklahoma @ Tennessee will be a good one. I got Tennessee winning a close one. Oregon @ Michigan State will be the game of the week. Both are in the top 10. Oregon lost some really good players. I think the Spartans will take this one 38-35. LSU @ Mississippi State should be a fun one to watch. I got MSU for the upset.

I think Michigan State will beat Oregon, too.

Iowa State shit another one down their leg. Lost to a MAC team, Toledo. Don't get me wrong, Toledo is a good team, but still... ISU racked up close to 500 yards of offense and managed to only put up 23 points. 20 points in regulation and 3 in the first overtime. Cole Netten missed a 32 yard field goal to win the game with a few seconds left but he fucking missed it. Toledo went up 30-23 in the 2nd overtime and the ISU gave up a sack on 4th and goal and that was the game.

Clones are off this coming weekend and then host Kansas. If they lose to Kansas then head coach Paul Rhodes should be fired immediately after the game. I love the guy, but he can't win games for some reason.

The B1G has to be the most over hyped conference in college football. Ohio State keeps winning but they honestly don't look like a top 5 team. Michigan State struggles against a bad MAC team for 3 quarters today. Penn State struggled for a bit against a bad S.D. State team. Northwestern, yes the #17 team in college football (what a riot!) barely beat Ball State. Rutgers won but was not great against Kansas, one of the worst teams in the country. Purdue lost to Bowling Green. Minnesota scored in the last minute to beat Ohio. Michigan did blow out BYU, that was a good win for the conference. Nebraska beat a bad Southern Miss team by only 8 points. Indiana won by 7 against a bad Wake Forest team. Maryland got blown out by unranked West Virginia. Ohio state only won 38-12 against a horrible Western Michigan team. Illinois won by 2 against Middle Tennessee State. Wisconsin 28-0 over Hawaii. Iowa 62-16 against North Texas, one of the worst teams in college football.

They are winning games but mostly by a close margin against teams they should have no problem beating. The SEC, Pac-12 and Big 12 are all much better conferences and possibly the ACC. I hope no B1G team makes the playoff at the end of the year.

B1G East:
Penn State 3-1 (1-0 conf.) lost to Temple. Didn't look impressive against Buffalo, Rutgers or San Diego State. They play Army this weekend.
Indiana 4-0 (0-0 conf.) Opened the season with a 1 point win against FCS team S. Illinois. Won by 14 against a bad FIU team. Won by 3 against a decent Western Kentucky team. Won by 7 against an average Wake Forest team. 4-0? Big deal. With that schedule they should be 4-0.
Michigan State 4-0 (0-0 conf.) Beat a rebuilding Oregon team by 3. Only beat W. Michigan by 13. Won 30-10 against C. Michigan but it was a close game at the start of the 4th qtr. Struggled but won against Air Force. The #2 team in the nation should have blown out 3 of those 4 teams. Not impressed.
Ohio State 4-0 (0-0 conf.) defending National Champs. Impressive opening day win over a decent Virginia Tech squad. Blew out Hawaii. Barely beat N. Illinois. Won easily against W. Michigan. Seeing some bad play from the Buckeyes at times and that will probably bite them in the ass at some point this year.
Michigan 3-1 (0-0 conf.) Got beat up by Utah, which was awesome to watch! Bounced back and beat up on Oregon State, UNLV and BYU. Yes, the BYU team without their star QB. Michigan's defense does look really good and they have not looked as bad as most of the other B1G teams.
Maryland 2-2 (0-0 conf.) Won easily against FCS team Richmond. Lost to Bowling Green. Lost to a MAC team!! Beat a below average USF team. Blown out by West Virginia. Not impressed.
Rutgers 2-2 (0-1 conf.) Blew out FCS school Norfolk St. Lost to Washington St. Blown out by Penn St. Beat Kansas (one of the worst teams in the country). Not impressed.

B1G West:
Iowa 4-0 (0-0 conf.) Won easily against FCS school Illinois St. Won a close game against Iowa St. Made a 57 yard FG to beat Pitt. Demolished a horrible North Texas team. They haven't beat anybody good yet so not impressed.
Northwestern 4-0 (0-0 conf.) Beat #16 Stanford. Destroyed FCS school E. Illinois. Beat a decent Duke team. Squeaked by MAC team Ball St. They have been pretty impressive so far.
Illinois 3-1 (0-0 conf.) Pounded on Kent St. and FCS school W. Illinois. Got beat down by North Carolina. Barely beat Middle Tennessee.
Minnesota 3-1 (0-0 conf.) Hung with top 5 ranked TCU but lost. Won in OT against a below average Colorado St. team. Won by 3 against a crappy Kent St. team. Won by 3 against a crappy Ohio team. Not impressed.
Wisconsin 3-1 (0-0 conf.) Got beat down by Alabama. Won 58-0 over Miami. Miami of Ohio that is. Easily beat Troy and Hawaii. Not impressed.
Nebraska 2-2 (0-0 conf.) Lost to BYU in a really fun game to watch. Pounded S. Alabama. Lost an overtime thriller to Miami. Struggled but won against a bad Southern Miss team. Not impressed.
Purdue 1-3 (0-0 conf.) Lost to Marshall. Beat Indiana State, an FCS school. Lost to Virginia Tech and Bowling Green. Not impressed.

See what I mean? Only THREE wins against ranked opponents... Michigan over BYU, Northwestern over Stanford and Michigan State over Oregon.

Ohio state will end up dropping a game at some point. They are not as good as people think. If that awesome running back goes down they are in big trouble. Iowa at 5-0 is looking good after that road win vs Wisconsin. Michigan State barely got past Purdue so I think they will end up dropping a game or two this year as well.

I always like to see Iowa do good since my entire family are Hawkeye fans, but they got lucky with their schedule this year. They have an easy schedule every year, but this year is really easy.

Bama wins 45-40. There were 40 combined points in the 4th qtr. Pretty fun game!
