Santa Rosa Hitchhiker murders... was Manalli the killer?

Some believe these murders were the work of the Zodiac. We will get deeper into these murders in due time. But for now... check this out. From Robert Graysmith's book 'Zodiac Unmasked.'



The man Graysmith is talking about is Fred Manalli. Also worth noting (which for some reason I never noticed until now) is that Manalli was heavyset. This is something I have not seen discussed. We all know Zodiac was described as being heavyset, and I have heard that some people thought Manalli was too thin to be Z. Every photo I have seen of him he looks thin, but I think all of those pics were from his college and high school days. He must have put on some weight before he died.

I also think that if there is any truth to the story then Manalli, in my mind, is guilty of either committing or being an accomplice to the Santa Rosa murders.

Oct. 22, 1973, Daniel Gruenberg, 17, was murdered. He was hitchhiking from Redwood City to Santa Cruz. His body was found in a reservoir near Steven Canyons Rd in Cupertino. Didn't Manalli has a connection to Cupertino? I want to say that he had lived there at some point, but I can't remember for sure.

I know all the SRHM victims were female, but there are other "possible" suspects... maybe Daniel is one of those.

There was mention of him putting on weight in one of his letters to someone. The 'Freda' thing is something I don't remember hearing about before but is very interesting.
