Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
So the two main reasons I do not think that Zodiac's DNA or prints are actually on file...
1. I think Zodiac had a partner (Fred Manalli) who wrote the letters and I think HIS DNA is what they got from the envelope or stamp.
2. Zodiac left gloves in the back of Paul Stine's cab. Why would he leave gloves in the back of the cab and then be so sloppy and leave a partial bloody palm print on the cab? This makes absolutely no sense to me.
I'm interested to hear what everyone else thinks about the gloves.

I never got that either it makes no sense to leave gloves when the whole point of them in the first place was probably to leave no prints. any other serial killers in the bay area that left gloves at a murder scene?

I know the murderer of Valerie Percy in Kenilworth, IL left gloves at the scene, but I'm not sure about any in the bay area.
Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
because you cannot get your finger thru the trigger guard with those type of dress gloves and can't feel the trigger or because it had blood on it Z wants nothing to do with it ,he has to get rid of it .
is it one or two glove they found ? I say 1

Agreed but why did he leave the gloves in the car afterwards? I think he left both gloves behind.

because he does not want to be in possession of them .
the only bad thing is a blood hound could track him from the scent .doubt he recently bought them at a place that could track him
if he takes them and drops them that shows the escape route & some one may remember him

But why not ditch them in a bush rather than leave them in the cab? If he ditched them somewhere they probably wouldn't even be discovered until he is well out of the area.

it shows which way he left , and look how far he made it before he was seen by cops not far , the k9 team would find them quickly and he could have been caught by a home owner placing them in a yard or the owners dog
he may have not seen it on the seat it was dark and they were too

Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
We should have a thread about where Z went after the murder. It was reported that he was seen walking up to a house. I will have to track down that address and then we can discuss that as well as if he went into this house or where he may have went. Personally, I think he went into the home of Kjell Qvale.
As far as the gloves, I just can't see him accidentally leaving them behind unless he panicked about something and had to get out of there faster than he anticipated.

I just don't know. Makes no sense to leave the gloves behing like it was said before. Could he have just forgot them? Yes. But knowing Zodiac and this case I could see him leaving them behind on purpose but I can't think of what the reasoning would be.

Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
I think it was about the blood not the glove
but then he cut or tore off the back of the shirt ...that would take much longer with thick gloves on
with the interest in this case I am surprised some amateur Z group ...maybe out in SF has not reinacted the crime scenes very technically , on video , like discussing every action along the way it would not have to be at the original crime spots I have not seen Finchers detailed zodiac CD ...maybe it does this
for instance at BRS... Z was shooting from very close to the car and to do that he had to be somewhat short ALA was 6 '2"

A reinacment would be a really good idea.

I 2nd the reinactment idea I think that would be good just because maybe LE would pick up on something overlooked previously.

Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
Doesn't the Zodiac movie in the Stine scene say glove ,not gloves I have listened to it many times . fincher hired a research team to gather the facts 6 months before he started shooting the film ,and I would not want to be someone that got them wrong working for him
I saw a youtube vid from the 90's?- the zodiac killer case reopened -that had T Voigt in it that has some good reinactments, i never saw it untill 2 days ago

I will have no watch it again. I always thought they said 'gloves' but didn't pay attention to detail as much as I should have.

Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
The Gloves found were Size 5 I think. Anyway, they were certainly small and detectives believed they were left by someone else prior to Zodiac taking the Cab. SFPD believed, based on the size, they were probably left by A Lady.

ladies look nothing like it , they police would have said ladies gloves
Well I know that they were of a size that would not fit most men's hands. They may have been men's gloves but I know that due to their being so small, size 5, it was believed that they were women's.
I Myself personally. . .
I don't know. The Man observed by Don Fouke was medium to heavy build with a barrel chest. This alone does not immediately make Me think "Ahh yes, with Tiny Girly hands" :-)
But there is no Right or Wrong answer Don, simply opinions.
Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
Wow, a size 5 is small... maybe Earl Van Best Jr. was in that cab!
If the gloves were from a previous passenger, that would make more sense to me. A killer leaving gloves behind and then leaving a bloody print just makes no sense at all.

Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
The gloves were size 7 and were on the front floorboard of the cab. I believe that Zodiac had the gloves on when he shot Stine, but took them off when he went into Stine's pockets and tore the shirt to wipe the cab down, he wiped everywhere except one spot that he forgot he touched. Because the gloves fell onto the floor, Zodiac forgot to take them with him. Those gloves would have the Zodiac's DNA inside. I mentioned that to the head of the DNA lab at SFPD. She looked somewhat surprised as if she didn't know about them? Those were probably the same gloves he wore at Lake Berryessa if he did both of those crimes?

Oh wow, I always thought they were in the back seat. There's no way they belonged to Stine? It would be hard to believe Zodiac would leave gloves behind, but then again, he was probably in a big rush to get out of there.
Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
When You think of it, Mr Elusive was rather idiotic and beyond incompetent because, according to Him, He wears finger-tip guards so as not o leave His prints at scenes. Physical evidence suggests He also had gloves that, if not His own, were available at or in the cab crime scene itself so He has double protection of fingertip guards on fingers, which are covered by secondary gloved hands, and yet, He still manages to leave a lovely blood red fingerprint behind in the cabs interior.
Genius!
Genius!
Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
I don't think he had fake finger tips, personally. I think he said that to make the police think so because, in reality, he knows he fucked up. But who knows, maybe he really didn't leave a print.
Re: Gloves in the back seat of Stine's cab
I scrolled through this threads and must have missed it, didn't someone say that the gloves were smaller womens gloves and could not have belonged to z or am I just trippin?
