Well the offseason has been interesting already. Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles and Derrell (sp?) Revis were all released and are now free agents. Revis will probably retire. Charles will sign with a new team. I could see the Eagles picking him up. Peterson will review his options butt will probably resign with the Vikings for a lot less money. Good move by Minnesota if they can keep him but for a lot less money and use that extra money to fix their offensive line.

Don't forget we also have a team that has changed cities, the Chargers relocated from San Diego to Los Angeles. We could also see the Raiders move from Oakland to Las Vegas.

I have mixed feelings about Peterson being released. As a Vikings fan, I love the guy. But I understand that it is a business and that he was getting paid a ton of money but not producing as a player because of the injuries and the suspension a couple of years ago. I would love it if they could get him back for a much smaller amount of money and then have some cash to spend in free agency. With no 1st round draft pick this year, free agency will be huge. They don't really have a lot of positions to fill, but the offensive line, as you mentioned, really needs an upgrade.

Jamaal Charles had his achilies tendon tear ,fixed he played ,the 2nd game back his other tendon started to tear ....he may just retire ,it could be another year before those tendons are ready

Charles was hurt a lot over the last few years so it makes sense they wouldn't want to pay him anything over $10 million a year when they get no results. Same thing with the Vikings and Peterson. I think the Chiefs and Vikings each have some pretty good young running backs, but not nearly as good as Peterson and Charles were in their prime.
Re: :::Official 2017 NFL thread:::
I think this will be an exciting offseason with some big names changing teams and some big surprises in the draft. Cleveland has two 1st round picks and two 2nd round picks. If they are smart about it then they will come out of this looking really good. They could even trade the #1 overall pick and get even more draft picks. That might be a good move since there are no great QB's in this year's draft and that is their biggest need. I would hold on to that #1 pick and take Myles Garrett, he is a stud pass rusher. They could go with a QB with their other 1st rounder but I would take the best defensive back on the board. Their secondary is a joke and that is a position of need. Garrett and a good DB in round 1 would be a big win. They can get a QB in round 2.

Hearing that the Eagles are very interested in Charles. He is a lot like Darren Sproles only better. They would have to cut Sproles if they signed Charles, but Philly would be a nice fit for Jamaal.
Re: :::Official 2017 NFL thread:::
Sproles was assume too ,but I think they both are less effective now, Jamaal might just retire and save his health RB the worst position for hard hits

HAHAHA that is awesome!!!
I think former Iowa State defensive end Jake Lattimer may be playing for the Phantoms, or maybe did a couple years ago... I don't really remember.

Re: :::Official 2017 NFL thread:::
Oops. Correction, Lattimer played for the Salinas Bombers. He was also a linebacker for the Chiefs for a very short time.

seahawks sign eddie lacy so I don't think they will be interested in AP now. good news for you chad. I am hoping he signs with Minnesota and finishes his career there.

Vikings signed L. Murray (from the Raiders), so I'm not sure what that means for AP's future. They lost Asiata so they still need one more RB because right now they just have Murray and McKinnon and McKinnon is really just a 3rd down back. I'm sure they will still make Peterson an offer, but it won't be anywhere near what he is going to want. I think he will end up with the Raiders, where Cordarelle (sp?) Patterson ended up signing.
The Vikings really need to upgrade the offensive line. Reiff was a decent addition and should start at left tackle. Remmers could start at right tackle, but Clemmings might push him for that job. They still need a right guard to replace Fusco, and they need to draft a young center. They picked up DE Datone Jones from Green Bay and that is a very nice pickup since Robison is probably not gonna play much longer. Jones will make a nice backup behind Robison, Griffen and Hunter. For the record, I think Hunter should be a full time starter this year. He is a total badass!!

I am thinking about starting a fantasy football league this coming year for members of this site only. Depends on if enough people are interested. Anyone who is, please let me know.

I always get a co-worker or 2 invite me to join a fantasy football league every year and I always decline because I already follow sports way too closely than I should...ophion1031 wrote:I am thinking about starting a fantasy football league this coming year for members of this site only. That being said, I'd think about it on here, especially if there weren't a crazy lot of people participating...

I have a feeling that Peterson will sign with New England this week. It makes perfect sense for him. The Vikings are also signing QB Case Keenum which makes me wonder if they are planning on trading Teddy Bridgewater.
