Good Times, Berkeley Barb, The Rag, etc...

This thread is to discuss all of the "underground" type newspapers from the bay area. You can find a lot of interesting stuff in these papers. I am going through some now to see what I can find.

In the Eric Weill thread, I posted some personal ads that he placed in the Berkeley Barb.

Sept. 26, 1969 issue of the Berkeley Barb.....

These underground paper have tons of ads for sex clubs and things like that. I don't think I fully realized how many "adult movie theaters" the bay area had back then. Here is an ad from the Barb, which was a very common thing to see in these papers...



Some of them even show more nudity than this.

I bet if I (or we) keep looking through these things that we will find some pretty interesting things that could be Zodiac related. Or at least a lot of coincidental things. I'm interested in the personal ads.

Did you find most of the titles are locked on the site you gave a link for ?

Of special interest would have been the S.F. Express Times & S.F Good Times titles.

i think you have to be a member of that site to unlock most of them

it probably costs money I bet. but its still cool that they at least have some papers to browse through for free

there are two listings for 405 geary st on google maps, how weird. one is pretty close to wash & cherry and the other is way down by the bay

oct 17, 69 Berkeley tribe had this in it but not sure what it is

its funny though. this was just after the stine murder but no mention of it even though it was a huge story. the following week the tribe had a nice piece on the weathermen

talks about this reporter for the tribe getting extremely stoned with john wasserman (entertainment critic for the sf chronicle) and freaking out and thinking wasserman is zodiac. it also mentions that wasserman lives in a basement.
